Due to an outbreak of COVID-19 among students and staff at a Riverland high school, courses for year 11 and 12 students have been cancelled. In a "circuit breaker," Berri Regional Secondary College stated on Monday that all impacted pupils will study from home for three days from Tuesday to Thursday.
During the three-day period, the students will not get formal instruction but will be expected to continue with their own learning plans. Students in grades seven through ten are permitted to stay on campus as long as they do not have COVID-19 symptoms.
Staff and students are asked to keep an eye out for symptoms and be tested if they appear. Principal Emily Griggs said the decision was taken after seeking guidance from the South Australian education department and SA Health. She explained that the decision was made to "risk mitigation" the school.
